The benefits of servicing steam traps annually.

Defective steam traps are responsible for a significant portion of steam leakage. It is estimated that between 15% and 25% of steam traps become defective each year. Unfortunately, the leaks are not always visible to the naked eye, but they result in higher natural gas consumption.

We are delighted to announce that we have secured an instrumentation order for the newbuild Joint Support Ship being built by Seaspan shipyard for the Royal Canadian Navy.

This is the first of two such vessels being constructed for the Royal Canadian Navy, the delivery of the first is scheduled for 2023.

With a length of 173.7 metres and a breadth of 24 metres, this multi-purpose Naval Vessel will be the largest ever constructed in Canada, and has a significant instrumentation requirement with more than 140 level & pressure transmitters, more than 30 flood detection switches, and associated termination modules. We are also expecting a future order for all tank level alarm switches.

A major tire manufacturer in the Southeastern United States seeking to improve their steam curing process. Installing the VorCone steam quality meter along with temperature and pressure sensors has led to this facility significantly reducing product losses due to the presence of condensate in their steam curing process. Additionally, this facility received corporate recognition for achieving a reduction in their overall energy costs.

D-ISO Success in it’s first installment.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water have multiple drinking water plants and had an issue with ageing turbidity monitors at one of its drinking water sites. After over 20 years continuous service the existing turbidity monitors were breaking down and
replacement parts were not available. Partech were approached to provide an alternative to potentially replace the current 15 units. The potential replacement sensor had to not only match but exceed the current measurement accuracy to ensure compliance with strict water quality standards. Another requirement was to move away from wet calibration standards and simplify the calibration process as a whole.
The Partech TurbiTechw² D-ISO and 7300w² control monitor were installed on a 3 month trial with Partech providing on site guidance and support in the initial phase. After 3 months the data from the D-ISO was assessed and found to meet the trial criteria. Data was stored using the 7300w²’ monitors onboard logging facility. The engineers reported increased accuracy of results along with a greater simplicity of calibration using the D-ISO’s dry calibration reference cell. Following the successful trial a second unit is being installed with a longer term project in place to gradually replace the aging existing units.

VorTek Instruments’ VorCone™ flow meters utilize two different flow meter technologies in combination; vortex and differential pressure. The design has blended the two separate flow metering principles into one hybrid system where the two meters complement each other's performance. This combination allows for the prediction of the fluid density, volumetric flow rate and mass flow rate without any fluid density information being required from an external source. In saturated steam service, the meter produces a reliable steam quality (dryness) measurement and steam mass flow rate reading.
